About the Role (Fixed Term - 18 months) 

The HC Business Partner is required to work closely with Senior Leaders and department heads to understand their business needs and challenges and then develop and implement HC solutions that support the achievement of business goals.

The HCBP will be aligned to a particular area of the business working with the HC Director to align human capital strategies and practices with the overall business objectives.

Main Responsibilities 

  • Work with functional heads to identify people matters and develop pro-active plans to address needs, ensuring capability, development, engagement and succession planning are at the forefront of the agenda.
  • Provide HC advice and guidance on a wide range of activities, including but not limited to: employee wellbeing, workforce planning, recruitment & selection, employee relations, performance management, reward & recognition, learning & development, change management, policy management.
  • Work with the HC Director to develop and implement HC initiatives that are aligned to business objectives.
  • Lead on Organisational development, designing and implementing development programs to enhance employee capability.
  • Manage the company performance management and development system, ensuring processes are adhered to and results are analysed and shared with Leaders to develop effective talent and succession plans.
  • Manage the full recruitment process within your designated functions, including advertising roles externally, utilising recruitment agencies, social media and the company candidate database to source candidates and working closely with line managers to co-ordinate the interview process.
  • Ensure implementation of all HC Policies, Procedures and support HC Team in ensuring we remain compliant in all areas such as GDPR, Wellbeing and Employee relations.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of HC Systems and practices within the organisation.
  • Support the HCD with the development and delivery of key projects including Sustainability, Learning & Development, Employee Engagement, Digitalisation & Communications. Deliver assigned projects as agreed.
  • Drive employee engagement in your assigned functions through the development of Great Place to work action plans.
  • Provide guidance to HC Administrator ensuring coaching and development is provided.
  • Support the HCD and department managers with conducting department and individual training needs assessment, co-ordinating training requests in line with requirements and budget.
  • Manage and own your professional development in order to achieve your work objectives and your career and personal goals.

Scope of Role

  • The HCBP has a high degree of autonomy on the day to day operation of their area. They will be required to make key decisions with limited guidance on all areas of HC.
  • They will be a change agent for the business, driving forward the change strategy through clear communication and employee engagement.
  • To be successful, they must develop meaningful relationships with key people in their business area, and other people teams in the organisation

Work Environment

  • Full-time, 34 hour working week, hybrid flexible working
  • This role does require travel within and outside the UK and the job holder will be required to stay away from home.
  • Required to work additional hours as necessitated by the needs of the business.

Job Qualification

About You

  • Experience in a generalist HC role preferably within Manufacturing or retail environment.
  • CIPD accreditation desirable.
  • Skills in relationship building and influencing are essential.
  • Proven ability to use data, metrics and evidence to inform and drive decision making and change across their business areas.
  • In depth knowledge of HR policies and recruitment and selection processes.
  • Logical and calm when working to difficult timeframes.
  • Be able to lead and work as part of a team.
  • Excellent knowledge in leading projects and implementing new initiatives.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication & presentation skills
  • High levels of enthusiasm and motivation.
