Whisky and Cognac Interns

It’s National Intern Day, and a chance for us to throw a spotlight on two young people who are making their mark within our internship programme.

Internships are a triple win for our business. They’re a way to discover and nurture new talent for the future; to bring a fresh, interesting perspective to our teams; and to spread the word amongst younger generations about the brilliant career opportunities the drinks industry has to offer.

Joining Samantha Peter and her Global Digital and Communication team is Digital Communications Intern Anna Ewing.  Anna is an International Relations and Modern Languages graduate who has her eye on a job with global prospects. Based at our Airdrie HQ, in just a few weeks she found herself learning the ropes of digital PR and event management with our team on this Summer’s Carounn Gin Apple Orchard pop up. She has also been tasked with supporting David Cunninghame's social media audit and identifying ways to contribute to brand visiblitby growth online - delivering an impressive and insightful report at its completion, commenting on the role so far Anna said:

After graduating from University, I had only a vague idea that marketing might be a good career path for me and had very little hands-on experience in the field. This internship has allowed me to explore all aspects of Digital and Communication - building my skills and experience, as well as providing the inspiration and motivation to pursue a career in marketing, particularly within the drinks industry.

Working at International Beverage has also confirmed and further inspired my passion for international communication, public relations and language. It’s been great being involved in a variety of projects and in just a few weeks I have learned so much!’

Based in France, Vincent Bertaudeau is an intern with Larsen Cognac working in HSEQ and eaux-de-vie. Each day is different as he moves between posts working in Larsen’s cellars, laboratory and bottling line, and he is relishing the opportunity to learn so many new skills. His experience has confirmed his passion lies within creating and blending eaux-de-vie, as well as the environmental aspect to production:

This apprenticeship in Larsen Cognac has helped me develop my skills in different subjects and has given me the opportunity to get really involved in every aspect of the company.

Tasting is of course the best part! But being able to follow a project through from cellar to research, development and botting has been great too and given me a fanstastic foundation to further my career.

As for the future, Anna will soon be heading to Paris for a stint teaching English at Sorbonne University, but we will be staying in touch for future opportunities. Vincent will continue with our Larsen Cognac team developing his passion for eaux-de-vie and he hopes to take up a full time position with the business soon.
